Issue Three and Poetry Open Mic

The third issue of The Virginia Normal is now available for purchase for $15.

Poetry Open Mic
The Virginia Normal and the VSU chapter of Sigma Tau Delta will be holding a poetry open mic Friday, April 21, 2017 at 5 PM in the Writing/e-Portfolio Center in Harris Hall. Featured poets will include those featured in the Ekphrasis in reVerse text and image exhibition held in March. Light refreshments will be provided and the third issue of The Virginia Normal will be available for purchase.

Writing Contest Deadline Extended
The Virginia State University Student Writing Contest has been extended to April 7, 2017.
The contest is open to all current VSU students. Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and critical essays are all welcome. Winner and honorable mentions will be published on The Virginia Normal‘s website and featured in an e-book online journal.
Guidelines:
Email all submissions to thevirginianormal@gmail.com as a single .doc or .docx attachment. Author’s name should only appear on a separate cover sheet and should not appear elsewhere in the submission.
Submissions should be no longer than 2,500 words or five poems in MLA format.
Indicate the genre of work in the email subject line (e.g. Poetry Submission).
