Ekphrastic Poetry Contest

ekphrasis: (\ˈek-frə-ˌsēz\) a literary description of or commentary on a visual work of art

Contest Description:

Write an ekphrastic poem in which you respond to or interpret one of the artworks below. Each artwork was created by a VSU student. Winning poems will be published in TVN@VSU, The Virginia Normal‘s online student journal, and will also be featured beside the artworks in an upcoming exhibition on campus.

This contest is open to all current VSU students.

Submission

You may submit up to six poems in a Microsoft Word document.

Please indicate which image(s) you are responding to in your email. You are welcome to submit poems for multiple images.

Give your poem(s) an original title.

Send your submission to thevirginianormal@gmail.com with the subject line “Ekphrastic Poetry Contest Submission.”

Contest Deadline: Monday, November 13.
